2016 Home Tour: Our DIY House

Welcome to my official 2016 home tour! I realized that I haven’t given you a tour of my entire house – including those sometimes forgotten rooms like the laundry room and bathrooms – since last year, so I thought today was a great time to post an update. If you’ve been reading my blog for the last little while, you’ll have seen most of these photos before, but I will throw in a few new ones of my summery living room. This is also a special day because it’s Canadian Bloggers Home Tour time! At the bottom of this post, you’ll find links to 8 more home tours from my Canadian blogging friends. Please pay them a visit; we have so many talented DIYers and decorators in our beautiful country!

Today’s tour is mostly photos with links to more information and tutorials. If you want to read about how we built our home ourselves from the foundation up, go here. It was a challenging, amazing, scary, exciting journey and I’m really glad we did it! We started building in 2012, and here’s what Our DIY House looks like today.

And there you have it! That’s our home in a nutshell. I’m really happy with all that we have done up to this point, and I can’t wait to keep tackling new projects with my hubby and daughters. Next up? We’re working on finishing our guest house (which was the old garage-house we lived in) on our property. You can read more about that here.

Now it’s time to come take a tour of some other Canadian bloggers’ homes!

  4. Loving your home and inspiring as well. Me and my husband are planning to build our new home in Philippines. Seeing a blog who shares ideas or guides, helps us on what kind of design we wanted for our new home. By the way, you really have an awesome blog. Keep it up! 🙂

  5. Loving your home you are truly blessed. I noticed that you painted with a lot of valspar paint. I discovered this inexpensive gem a few years ago. It as saved me hundreds of dollars from buying those more expensive brands that give about the same results I love the price and my customers love the finish. great look

  6. I just get inspiration from here, my home exterior is almost same color as yours and i love this grey color. Other all the interior designs are also awesome.

  7. What a beautiful home, your ideas are inspiring! I really like the colors that you’ve chosen and your choices in furniture as well. I’m in the process of remodeling an old farm house and plan to steal some of your great ideas. Thank you!
