A Frozen Inspired “Anna” Party

This past weekend, we threw a birthday party for Little A. She’s turning three, and we had been planning a Frozen themed party for quite some time. Like our Halloween costumes this year, I suggested other ideas, but Little A wanted what she wanted and I gave in. I was happy to hear that she wanted an “Anna” themed party as opposed to the more popular “Elsa” theme, so we had a lot of fun making decorations, favours, and foods that were the colours and feel of Anna’s costume.

We kept the party simple and sweet so that it was budget friendly and kid-focused.

For our customary decorated dessert table area (we did this last year for the girls’ Winter Ballerina and Bake Shoppe parties on this buffet), I made some paper banners with my computer, glittery scrapbook paper and some twine.

I draped the table with leftover fabric from Little A’s Anna costume (which she wore for the party, of course).

I flanked the dessert table with white mini trees that I purchase last year for the girls for Christmas, and wrapped scrap fabric around their bases. I also used scrap fabric strips to make a banner for over our chalkboard. The directions to make a scrap fabric banner are here on Little C’s Strawberry Shortcake party post.

Frozen cupcakes with snowflake sprinkles

I love how easy cupcakes are to make and eat at birthday parties, so I made a couple dozen and iced them with teal coloured icing and decorated them with snowflake sprinkles. Simple and yummy!

DIY Frozen party favors made of recycled baby food jars

For favours, I recycled some baby food jars, painted their lids in gold and silver and filled them with candy. Then, I made a label on my computer, printed it out, and wrapped it around the jars. We also found some inexpensive Frozen themed lip gloss to give to each guest.

A craft for a Frozen birthday party: snowflake ornaments from pipe cleaners and beads

Each guest also got to make a couple of crafts before lunch. We made some easy snowflake ornaments out of pipe cleaners and beads (the DIY is here) and we painted with “snow paint”. To make puffy, glittery snow paint, I mixed one part shaving cream with one part white glue, threw in some glitter, and set it out on the table with paper and brushes.

The rest of the decorations were simple – I strung some balloons from our kitchen fan and drew snowflakes on them. We served a simple lunch of sandwiches (that I made signs references the movie for) and snacks.

Little A was absolutely thrilled with the whole day, and I think all of the children had a good time! Ultimately, that’s what matters as we celebrate each special little one’s birthday. Time flies, and they grow up so very quickly.

Happy birthday, Little A!

  1. This really is so cute, simple and inexpensive… I just love it! The idea of drawing snowflakes on the bottom of the balloons is a great one. The cupcakes are just beautiful! I am making some ‘Frozen’ cupcakes for Autumn’s birthday party at school tomorrow (for Friday) and I hope they turn out close to as cute as yours! I think my favorite, tho is the chalkboard sign and scrap banners! Great job!
