How to Make Hidden Tab Drapes (Video) | One Room Challenge Week 3

It’s already half way to the finish line for this season’s One Room Challenge and I’ve made laughable progress. It’s been snowing here, we took a break from lots of things for Easter, and the kids are wild and cabin-feverish, so not much has been done. I’ve been doing things in a sort of backwards manner because it’s been too cold and wet outside to get the power tools on the porch to do some trim work for the space, so this week I’ve opted for a more indoor activity: sewing drapes.

In case you missed it, here are my plans to change our formal sitting room into a formal dining room space.

Here was week #2’s progress and how I made DIY chalk style paint.

These DIY hidden back tab drapes are surprisingly easy to make. I think they’d be a great beginner project if you’re new to sewing! They’ll make such an impact in my new dining room space, and I think they’ll blend marvelously with this new dining table I’m getting from The Brick: The Keswick Dining Table.

This fabric that I chose has the grey and teals colours that I love, but it also has some warmer tones to highlight the warm caramel colour of this beautiful pine table. I simply can’t wait to see everything together!

I might even throw a couple of the white farmhouse dining chairs I have in the mix. I love to mix and match different pieces from different furniture sets for a unique look.

Make sure to follow along here over the next 6 weeks as I work on our new dining room, and visit the One Room Challenge blog to see all of the other makeovers as they progress!

What do you think of these drapes with the table? Would you try sewing them? I hope so!

  1. You always pick the most beautiful fabrics Christina! Love it. Can’t wait to see how it all comes together in a few weeks. And I totally understand how the snow has put a wrench in your plans. We actually live close to each other and all my patio furniture is now covered in inches of the white stuff. Go away already snow – it’s almost May!
