Accessories in a room are like jewelry with an outfit – they can add so much personality and sparkle to the whole look! I had the pleasure of shopping with one of my good friends, Cheryl, at The Brick this morning for her basement makeover. Let me share with you all of the goodies we found plus some easy tips on how to make accessories shopping a snap!

Cheryl loved the vintage industrial look of this art

First of all, it’s always a good idea to have a plan before you go accessories shopping.

We made a mood board for Cheryl’s basement a few weeks ago, and we knew that we were looking for things that were vintage-modern-industrial in neutral colours.

We thought this Lightning Bug lamp and it’s matching floor lamp were a wonderful style for the basement.

Next, make a list of the general items you’re looking for.

For this basement makeover, we were looking for lamps, bookshelf items, small tables and art.

Even though this mirror’s not entirely neutral, we thought it was the perfect style for the space and the blue brings in a little personality

Finally, think outside the box.

Even though you have a plan and a list, you might be surprised by an item that you could use for an interesting purpose. For example, we found a round ottoman (you can see it here) that we thought could be used as a coffee or side table when lined up in a pair.

Here are some more things we found for Cheryl’s modern industrial basement makeover:

What do you think? I love how these all look and I can’t wait to show you the completed space soon!
