Mood Board: A White & Brights Playroom

Our basement is almost finished, and I’m SO EXCITED to have a dedicated play space down there for my girls! We had the entire house including our basement drywalled at one time when we built, so now Hubby is doing the finishing touches to the space. Half of our walkout basement is divided into two bedrooms and a bathroom, and the other half is a giant, open area reserved for a playroom and a workout room. Of all of the rooms in the house, I think a playroom is the most suited to a bold splash of colour… and that’s exactly how we’re going to decorate it!

I’m really drawn to playrooms with white walls and furniture so that bright toys and decor accents can pop. I bought a rainbow bright chevron rug (pictured and linked to below) that was the starting point for this fun room, and we’ve already put it down there along with some toys. Now, we somehow just need to find the time to finish painting the walls and trim so that we can start decorating and playing.

Here’s my mood board for our bright basement playroom:

Mood Board: White & Bright Playroom

  1. Cirkustalt Play Tent from Ikea
  2. Kallax Shelving Unit from Ikea (I’m going to turn it on its side and make a bench with storage underneath)
  3. Drona Storage Box from Ikea
  4. Multicolor Chevron Rug from Overstock
  5. Framed Chalkboard from Overstock
  6. Playroom Rules Art from Overstock
  7. Riley Blake Medium Dots Rainbow Fabric
  8. Lipstick Canopy Stripe Fabric

The plan is to build a play stage in one corner of the room. My girls LOVE to sing and dance, so we thought this would be perfect for them. Stay tuned to see if this idea actually comes to fruition in the near future!

What does your playroom look like?
