Welcome to my craft room office! It’s a little square room that measures about 10′ x 10′ with an angled entry that’s just off of our kitchen and living room.

When we designed Our DIY House, I knew I wanted to allow for a home office on our main floor so that I could work at my computer and sewing desk while watching the kids. The french doors allow me to separate myself from the rest of the house if needed too.

This storage and art gallery wall with the giant pegboard feature is definitely one of my favourite parts of the room, and you can see how I made it by clicking right here.

And let me introduce you to my new Lady Boss chair! (I totally feel like a lady boss in it.) This is awfully embarrassing, but this gorgeous little white office chair is the first real office chair I’ve ever had. No more sliding in the kitchen chairs into my craft room – this here is the real deal.

This baby’s the Bexley Swivel Chair from The Brick, and I chose her because she’s sleek and modern looking. My craft room has SO MUCH going on in it (I can’t help it – I have a lot of craft supplies!), that I thought the room needed a chair that was modern and simple and white. This chair fit the bill and it’s at a great price point.

This little number‘s also perfect because it swivels and slides on legs with casters. I can slide her on over to the opposite wall of my office craft room where my sewing machine and serger reside.

I did have an area rug in this space before, but I decided to take it out because (A) it was too busy looking and (B) I wanted to slide my new slidey chair around.

The “sewing area” side of my craft room office is now clean and tidy. I meticulously folded all of my fabric using a piece of cardboard cut to the size of my shelf as a size reference. Wow – what a difference a little (OK… a lot) of folding made! I put up the rest of some wall organizer panels I had over my sewing table and cleaned off the surface.

I ALWAYS recommend using wall storage instead of desk or table storage when you can. It feels so good to have surfaces clear of clutter! I found these wall panels at my office supply store a few years ago (they’re now discontinued), but you could easily do a similar system with pegboard.

Now I have so much more room to SEW!

The patterned drapes are ones that I made for our Garage House and I think they look lovely in here. Here’s how to make lined curtains like this.

  1. Your office is amazing! I am so jealous of your perfectly organized craft space! My husband built me a craft closet last year and I love it, but it’s no where near as organized as this… Definitely a work in progress but this has inspired me to finish the space.

  2. Your house is gorgeous! I’m looking to paint my craft room this spring and love the colour in your room. What is the colour on your walls?
