Do your kids love to play with homemade slime like mine do? Mine ADORE IT. There’s something about this gooey stuff that they love! We’ve made it a lot, and today I want to share the recipe that we always use.

Your kids can customize this recipe however they want with mix-ins like glitter, food colouring, sequins, foam beads and more. Scour your local dollar store or Amazon and get creative!

You can mix up a batch of this slime together and then store it in a Ziploc bag or airtight container and it will last for a few weeks. My girls love to squish it up in their hands, pat it on a table, mix their Shopkins in it, make shapes out of it… the list goes on!

We use a borax solution as our “activator” – the ingredient that creates the slimey texture – but if you don’t want to use borax, you can also try using eye drops. We find a borax solution to be the best way to get the texture we want, and we only ever use a minute amount to make our slime. I make the solution and store it in a lidded mason jar for future slime-making.

This is our favourite recipe to make the best feeling slime to play with!
Ingredients
  • 1 cup white or clear glue (white glue is easier to work with)
  • a few pumps of foaming hand soap
  • a few Tbsp of mix-ins (food colouring, glitter, small foam balls, sequins, beads etc)
  • 3-5 tsp of activator (1 tsp borax dissolved in 1/2 cup water OR saline eye drops)
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, mix glue, hand soap and desired mix-ins.
  2. Start adding in the activator 1 tsp at a time, mixing constantly. Once the mixture gets too hard to mix with a spoon, knead it with your hands until it forms a soft but non-sticky slimey texture.
