Like I mentioned before, I never thought I’d take the time to decorate a mantel for Valentine’s Day, but here we are. Honestly? I think it’s pretty and Little C was just ecstatic when she saw we were putting lots of hearts up on our mantel to celebrate her favourite holiday!

I decided to decorate in mostly neutral colours, and everything I used was what I already had on hand, or what I could make for free. Just the way I like it!

This DIY heart book page wreath takes center stage, and you can read how I made it (with a video!) here.

I covered the insert of a picture frame I had with drop cloth, and then I stenciled the word “love” on the bottom of it. I printed out the word (the font is “Bombshell”), and then I coloured the back of the paper with a pencil. Then I placed the paper onto my dropcloth frame and traced around the letters so that the pencil on the back transferred to the drop cloth.

Then, I traced around the letters and filled them in with a black Sharpie. I extended the lines of the first and last letter to the edge of the frame.

  1. I love your amazing mantel! Who built it? I have a floor to ceiling stone fireplace as well and am considering a mantel and LOVE the look of yours.

  2. Thank you for this! I just made and hung your book page wreath and I love it. Wish I could share a photo with you but I’m not a blogger.

    Cheers!
