As the month of March draws to a close, I’m reflecting on my “No Jammies March” challenge and entering this season with a renewed passion for fashion. Cheesy, much?! It’s true! I challenged myself (and you!) to try to get out of my “day pajamas” every day and into something as equally comfortable, but more stylish. I’ve really enjoyed trying out different outfit combinations and taking a little extra time for myself.

As a busy mama, it’s hard to squeeze in this time, but I’ve discovered an easy way to do it – a capsule wardrobe! Have you heard of this concept? Essentially, a capsule wardrobe is a pared down version of your clothing wardrobe. Donate or store anything that you don’t like, don’t wear, or that isn’t fitting for the season you’re in. Curate your wardrobe very carefully so that it’s easy to mix and match the pieces and so that you love absolutely everything! If you want to read more about the capsule wardrobe concept, I think Caroline of Unfancy explains it best here.
So, with a renewed excitement for clothing and this capsule wardrobe concept in mind, I went ahead and purged my closet donating three large bags full of clothing to my local thrift store. Next, I used Pinterest to help me plan my Spring wardrobe by Pinning outfit ideas that I loved. I had lots of the pieces required to make these outfits in my closet already, so I simply identified key pieces I was missing and added them to my shopping list.
I don’t like to spend a ton of money on clothing, but I’ve realized that things like neutral jackets, shoes and purses can be worth splurging on because you can wear them for years – they’re like the neutral furniture you have in your home.
My Spring Capsule Wardrobe mood board is below and it features some of the pieces and brands I’ll be wearing this season. Everything is comfortable, appropriate for a busy mom-life, but it’s still pretty and all things I love. I chose a colour scheme of white, grey, black, pink and blue so that everything is really easy to mix and match.
Want to see how these pieces look on and get ideas to style them? You can follow along on my Instagram account where I post my favourite outfit ideas with the hashtag #petitecurvymomstyle.
And pretty please let me know if you enjoy these fashion posts, and if so I’ll post more outfit ideas on my blog too.
Happy dressing, mamas!
