A Christmas Craft & Hot Chocolate Station for the Kids

This past weekend, my family and I had so much fun doing a whole host of Christmasy crafts and activities. I set up a special little crafts & hot chocolate afternoon for them one day so that we could enjoy each other’s company and get some Christmas crafts done. Want to set up your own Christmas hot chocolate & crafts station for your little ones this week? Here’s what we did!

First, I set up a fun area on our kitchen counter to make some hot chocolate. I put out my festive coloured coffee maker, some red paper straws, and a couple mason jars of hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows.

The adorable little yarn trees were examples of the craft that I set out for the girls on our kitchen island.

We chose to make this ready-to-go craft as part of our crafty afternoon (it’s the Holiday Crafternoon Holiday Handmade Trees set by my Canadian blogging friend, Virginia!), but you could prepare any sort of Christmas craft you’d like for your little ones. (Need some ideas? Why not try one of these DIY snow globes or mice candy cane holders?)

I also set out some mini gingerbread houses on our island that were ready for decorating. My mom bought the girls this adorable mini gingerbread village from Michaels, but you could also make your own gingerbread and cut it into house shapes.

I love these special “invitations to play” because it helps us take an afternoon away from electronics and busyness and gets us laughing and creating together. When I take the time to setup specific stations for snacks and crafts, it helps me to slow down and enjoy my girls too!

A kitchen island or a kitchen table are great places to host little craft afternoons like this. We love using our island because it’s such a wonderful, large surface to spread out crafts and snacks. When we were choosing new stools for our island, Little C helped me pick these Moriann Counter Stools from The Brick because “they look safe and comfy”.

She was right! My girls love crafting and snacking on these stools because they’re soft with high backs that keep them upright and safe when they’re at the kitchen island. Plus, I find the fabric very easy to wipe down and it’s a great neutral colour. I also love that The Brick has beautiful looking furniture for a cost that young families like ours can afford!

You can buy these stools here and make sure to follow the Brick over this next week to see all of their early Boxing Week deals!

Between all the yarn tree making…

We even added a completed gingerbread house to our Christmas hot chocolate station vignette before we had our treats. Happy Christmas crafting!
