There’s something so beautiful about simple, fresh decor in a room, isn’t there? I find this especially true in the summer time where it isn’t so necessary to have layers and layers of things in your home; it’s a great time to simplify and redecorate with a more minimalist approach.

My parents’ newly finished entry in their new lake house is the perfect example of a light & fresh look that still makes an impact. In case you haven’t been following along, my parents have been building a lake house over the past couple of years and they’re just finishing it up. It’s beautiful! You can tour the living room here, the kitchen here, the laundry room here, and the bedroom here. Later this week, I’ll also be sharing a summer tour of their home!

This lake house entry is one of the most lovely features in their house. As soon as you walk in, you can see the lake from the front door. And the front door itself sets a beautiful precedent for the lovely lake house interior to come.

This gorgeous door is the Heritage Series Craftsman style exterior door from Masonite with two sidelites and a transom window to let extra light into the home. You can see the exterior of the door in this post. My parents are madly in love with this door and love how much character and light it gives their new house.

Another important item in this new entry is this simple but lovely Feiss light fixture from Build.com. Its lantern shape makes it perfect for a lake house, and I love that it has a modern feel with its simple lines. The bit of black adds some interest to this mostly white and off white space.

My aunt gave my mom this adorable vintage bench, and my mom painted it to give it a weathered wood look. She made some cushions to tie in the blues and greens in the rest of her home, and a blue entry mat also adds some colour to this room.

I found the art as a free download, and framed it with these distressed gray/green frames I had in my stash.

My faux fiddle leaf fig in a rattan basket also adds a little bit of green & life without being too overwhelming.

And can we talk about this stairway? My parent finished it themselves, and they designed and installed the newel posts. Aren’t they beautiful?!

I love how my parents’ lake house entry turned out, and it’s so perfectly fresh for the summer months ahead! All of these simple elements combine to make a gorgeous space that sets the tone for the rest of this beautiful home.

Now tell me: What do you think of my parents’ lake house entry?
