Want to know something that makes this 37 weeks pregnant mama happy? Having Baby’s closet ready and organized for her arrival! Because we have two girls already, we have an abundance of little baby clothes and accessories that are ready for the new baby. Over the last couple of weeks, we were able to install a wonderful closet system in Baby B’s closet – the ClosetMaid ShelfTrack Elite – and I was able to organize all of her sweet baby things in it.

We started with a completely bare closet (heck, Baby B’s entire room was absolutely bare because it’s the last bedroom we got around to finishing in Our DIY House).

I received a ClosetMaid ShelfTrack Elite system (now available at Lowe’s Canada!) to try in Baby B’s closet, and am I ever thrilled with it! Look at how high-end and finished her closet looks now:

Since I’m 37 weeks pregnant, I bribed my dear hubby to install the closet system for me while I watched and waited patiently (I’m sure he just LOVED that).

The ClosetMaid ShelfTrack Elite system is pretty straightforward to install. A “Hang Track” is mounted at the top of the closet, and “Standards” are hung down vertically from that to support the shelves, and drawers. With a power drill and a handy hubby, installing these guys goes quite quickly.

The hanging rods are mounted to the bottom of the shelves. For Baby B’s closet, which is just over 5 feet wide, we used a two 2ft shelves and two 3ft shelves with rods hanging from three of those. My favourite part of this closet are these drawers:

Aren’t they great? I don’t even have to buy a dresser for Baby B’s room! There’s a gorgeous one right in her closet. The drawers are shallow enough that they can be opened within the closet, and they’re incredibly sturdy feeling. While they were simple to build, Hubby did find these the most time consuming aspect of the closet system to assemble – not only do the drawers have to be assembled, but their boxes do too. The result is completely worth it, however! The drawer boxes hang directly off of the vertical Standards, and the drawers slide right into those. You can configure everything quite easily!

I tried to organize this lovely closet as best I could with the addition of some pretty storage boxes and a ton of baby clothes hangers. The drawers and boxes in this closet help keep smaller items together and hide some of the less pretty things.

I kept my most favourite baby items on display – like these sweet booties and slippers (I’m a sucker for teeny tiny baby booties)! There’s a lot of pink in this closet (I can’t help myself, and I already own so many pink clothes), and there’s a fun addition of metallic gold in the heart wall decals on the wall and drawers.

Bulky & seasonal items are stored on the top shelves, bodysuits are hanging from the top rod, all of my decorative storage boxes are on the bottom shelf (and hold things like blankets, sleep sacks, diapers accessories and toys), the three drawers are filled with hats, sleepers and larger baby clothes, and the bottom rod holds snowsuits, dresses and tees.

This is the most organized baby closet I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on, and I can’t wait for my new baby girl to enjoy it too!

If you’d like to get your hands on the ClosetMaid ShelfTrack Elite system too, it’s now available at Lowe’s Canada!

  1. What a cute little closet! I recognize those adorable little fur booties. ; ) Can’t wait for Baby B to get here!

  2. Great job on the closet! I just installed two ClosetMaid systems and LOVE them. My closet isn’t anywhere near that cute, but it still might be my favorite place in the house right now!

  3. Did the entire system come together or did you buy the pieces separate? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. If so could you share a link where to buy the system? 🙂
