DIY Living Room Styling Tips at The Edmonton Fall Home Show + Win Free Tickets!

Since winning the title of Western Canada’s Next Home Stylist this August, life has been one happy blur! I flew to Vancouver at the end of August for a meeting with Marketplace Events and Urban Barn to determine what my presentation would look like at the Western Canada home shows this Fall, and I presented at my first show last weekend in Calgary. I was SO nervous right before the presentation, but as soon as I connected with some smiling faces when I got on stage, I was OK. It was really exhilarating to speak on the main stage, and I truly loved it. I can’t wait to do it again! Continue reading

What to Wear With Skinny Jeans This Fall + A Jewelry Giveaway!

It’s that time of year! It’s time to dust off the scarves and boots and enjoy Fall fashion. It’s so weird – every year at this time I get the clothing bug and I put a little more effort into my everyday “mom uniform” than I usually do. I don’t know if it’s because I love Autumn clothing so much or because my birthday is in September, but whatever the reason this is my yearly pattern.

This year, I’m embracing skinny jeans (or jeggings) and booties. If you missed my first petite curvy mom style post of the season, you can see all of my wardrobe basic picks over there with links to everything. Today I wanted to share with you some top ideas that I think pair well with skinnies for Fall. Plus, you’ll want to scroll to the very end of this post to enter to win some Elle Bliss Jewelry jewels and get an exclusive coupon code. They’re gorgeous and I loved how my Elle Bliss necklace and bracelets finished off these looks!Continue reading

Back To School Clothes Shopping Tips + Little C’s French Inspired Wardrobe from Marshalls

It’s hard for me to take in, but my Little C is going to Grade 1 in September. That means she’ll go to school every weekday. Oh, I’m going to miss this girl! She’s so excited – she can’t wait to ride the bus every day and see her friends more. She’s already counting down the days. Recently, we’ve started shopping for her back-to-school wardrobe. The other day I asked Little C what kinds of clothes she wanted to wear to grade one. “Clothes that no one else is wearing!” she said. My breath caught in my throat – this girlie is just like me! I distinctly remember having exactly the same attitude about my wardrobe when I was in school. It made me smile and nod with mama pride!

Mini Fairy Garden in a Tin Gift + Handmade Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

A couple of weeks ago, we visited a beautiful greenhouse nearby and we stumbled across the most adorable little fairy garden. I hadn’t thought too much about fairy gardens in the past, but when I heard both of my daughters audibly gasp when they saw the one at the greenhouse, I knew that we had to do some fairy garden projects this Spring! With Mother’s Day coming up soon, I thought some mini fairy garden gifts would be a great way to give this new & adorable little art form a try with my girls. We rounded up a bunch of suitable supplies we had on hand, made some others, and came up with a couple of absolutely sweet DIY mini fairy gardens in tins that will be a fun gift to give to moms for Mother’s Day this year! These would also make unique teacher’s gifts or gifts for friends too! Here’s how we made our mini fairy garden gifts.

Valentine’s Day Play Dough Mat Printable (+ Cleaning Our White Table!)

What’s your philosophy when it comes to kids getting messy? I’m pretty relaxed about it. I think it’s fun to squish and smush and sprinkle, so we do A LOT of that at our house. If you come to visit me without a warning, you better believe our home will be littered with toys and our table sticky with play dough and cookie crumbs. I’m trying to get better at having a daily cleaning routine and decluttering our home, but we won’t be stopping getting a little messy every day! It’s so fun! One of our favourite mediums is play dough, so one morning last week we cracked open the dough and I made some fun Valentine’s Day themed play dough mats for the girls.Continue reading
