Christmas Giving Memories in a Tiny House (+ A Chance to Win Free Toys!) #SearsMom

Published: Nov 25, 2013 · Modified: Nov 24, 2013 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · Leave a Comment

Question: How is Christmas only a month away? It's really crept up on me this year and I'm not sure if it's because I'm pregnant and have two little ones, because we've been continuing to finish Our DIY House, or if that's just what happens as the years progress.

I've been feeling extra nostalgic this year because this will be our first Christmas in our new home. We've spent 7 Christmases as a little family in our teeny tiny Garage House before moving this year into the new house we built. It's funny, because I had always longed for more room (especially during the holidays), but I really do have some fond memories of cozy little gatherings in our little house. We've never given the girls a ton of presents because of the lack of space in our home, but they've always loved the gifts they did receive (and the many more they received from their grandparents)!

Here's Little C in 2011 opening up a Rapunzel doll from her grandma. (Yep, she's a HUGE princess and Barbie fan already.)

Last year, Little C got a pop start barbie doll (this is her thrilled face, I swear). Baby A was just happy to stare in awe at the Christmas tree lights.

This year, we are planning to give the girls a play house for their Barbies and princesses like this amazing one from Sears (one of their top toys this year):

Now that we have the room, I think the girls will love having a home for their dolls. I've bought some sweet fabric, and I'm going to (attempt to) sew some little DIY accessories for their dollhouse like blankets for the bed, curtains, and pillows.

I am so excited to see their little faces when they see this gift! While I'm looking forward to our first Christmas in our big house, I still cherish the memories of snuggling close together in our tiny house. I don't ever want to forget that it's not the size of our house or gifts that matter at Christmas, but the hope and joy we share with our family and friends.

Speaking of Sears hottest toys, they're hosting a great contest on their Facebook page right now! Each Friday (until December 13th), they’re giving away one of their top and hottest holiday toys which you can enter to win by just commenting. Easy as pie!

What about you: Do you like to shower your little ones with a pile presents or do you like to keep Christmas simple with just one or two larger presents and some smaller handmade gifts?

Disclosure: I am part of the Sears Mom Ambassador program with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
