After a couple months, I’m finally able to share another room transformation at our Little Lake House rental! Last Fall, we purchased a run-down lakefront home last Fall. You can read more about it here and how we had to demolish it right down to the studs. So far, we’ve made over the main bedroom and the bathroom, and today I’m sharing the second bedroom makeover.

Here’s how the secondary bedroom looked BEFORE:

And here’s how it looks NOW:

This room was in the worst shape of all the rooms in the home when we brought it down to the studs. It had damage from mice in the back corner, and the entire floor and parts of the studs were rotten. We were so glad we decided to rip all the walls off so that my husband Sean could rebuild the damaged parts of the framing and we could have the whole home spray foam insulated.

Just like the other two rooms we’ve done in the Little Lake House, we used Metrie shiplap (gifted) on the ceiling for a coastal look, and beautiful Metrie crown moulding, casing and baseboard for a modern farmhouse vibe.

Peel & stick wallpaper in a fun blue & white geometric pattern creates an exciting feature wall for the single-over-double bunk bed that’s strong enough for either kids or adults to enjoy. The deep blue jute area rug grounds the look and creates a soft place to land.

Opposite the bunk bed, I created a fun gallery wall inspired by some duck artwork I found at Fy! (they sponsored the YouTube video for this makeover). The other green, yellow and blue artwork is from there as well along with the colourful throw pillows on the bed.

I’ve kept the linens white so that they’re easy to wash and bleach, and the walls are white as well to keep this smaller room looking open and fresh.

The ceiling fan is smaller and caged so that it’s safe and out of reach of the top bunk bed, and I love its industrial edge. On the floor, we have some beautiful Divine Flooring luxury vinyl plank in The Natural (gifted). It was SO quick to install and we love the look for our lake house!

This little dresser was actually left here at the property when we bought it, and I painted it with navy chalk paint and added the brass coloured hardware. It’s such a fun upcycled piece!

A good-sized closet at the foot of the bunk bed offers lots of storage, and I love these Metrie doors!

I love how this spaced turned out – it’s so light, bright and airy! I think it could work for kids or adults, and the colours here make me happy.
