As part of my goal to take better care of myself this year, I’ve started using essential oils. I’m a HUGE fan of aromatherapy (smells can take me back to a moment instantly and they can calm and energize me), so this seemed like a natural thing for me to start dabbling in! Essential oils are extracted from botanicals through steam distillation, resin tapping, and cold pressing and can offer many cosmetic and health benefits. Let me share with you some really simple beginner DIYs you can make for yourself and for your home with essential oils PLUS I’m sharing a FREE graphic file so that you can make your own pretty labels for your finished creations.

Essential Oil DIY Ideas

Before I had kids, I loved making my own skincare with natural products and essential oils. Fast forward to about 10 years later, and I’ve got the essential oils DIY bug again! This time, I did some research and decided that the best bang for my buck would be purchasing a Young Living Starter Kit by becoming a Young Living Member. This seemed like a no-brainer to me because I really don’t have to commit to purchasing anything else if I don’t want to, plus I got a whole lot of essential oils, a diffuser, and more for a great deal.

If you’re interested in trying these essential oils and getting some free gold foil vinyl labels for your EO DIYs from me, check out the bottom of this post!

I didn’t choose to enroll in the monthly Essential Rewards program yet, but I might in the future to take advantage of their monthly deals. I really like that this is completely optional and I didn’t feel pressured to do it or sell anything if I didn’t want to.

I’ve loved experimenting with the Dewdrop diffuser and the different blends of EOs that make our home smell divine.

I liked diffusing oils so much, that I purchased a second diffuser as shown in the photo above so that I could diffuse EOs in another room of the house! (You can find this pretty ceramic diffuser right here.)

Essential Oil Roller Bottle Labels - Cricut Cut File

Another favourite essential oil DIY so far? Handmade roller bottles! Aren’t these cute?! I made the labels myself with my Cricut machine and gold foil vinyl, and I found the green & gold roller balls right here. You can keep them in your purse and roll them on your wrists or temples when you need aromatherapy relief.

To make these, simply put 10 drops of your favourite essential oil or essential oil blend in a 10ml glass bottle like these. Fill the remainder of the bottle with fractionated coconut oil (I found mine here). Pop on a roller top & lid, and you’re ready to go! I used lavender EO for my “relax” bottle, RC EO (a blend of soothing oils to help lung function) for my “breathe” bottle and peppermint EO for my “energize” bottle. All of these oils come with the Young Living Starter Kit with Dewdrop.

Here’s how to make the simple aromatic room spray and relaxing epsom salts for your bath shown in the photo above:

For the room spray, add 10-15 drops of your favourite essential oil to a glass spray bottle. I’ve added some lemon & lavender EO to my “refresh” bottle. Add 1 Tbsp witch hazel to help the oils mix, and then top everything with distilled water. Spray as desired as an instant room refresher.

To make the relaxing espom salts, put some unscented epsom salts in a small mason jar. Add in 10 drops of your favourite oil, and mix. Use a few tablespoons of the salts in your next bath for a soothing escape. I’ve used lavender EO in my “relax” jar of salts.

Want to make the pretty gold foil labels for these essential oils with your cutting machine, too? You can right-click on the image below and save it to your computer. Then, import the image into the Cricut Design Space program and convert it to a Cut File. Make sure to size the graphic in Cricut Design Space so that it’s about 3 inches wide. The top two labels are for the larger spray bottle and mason jar, and the smaller three will fit 10ml roller bottles. Cut on gold foil vinyl like I did, or cut on the desired vinyl colour of your choice!
