Fall 2017 Decor Trends I Love

Published: Sep 7, 2017 · Modified: Sep 6, 2017 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 6 Comments

It's here again! It's time to decorate for my favourite season: FALL. While we had one of our best summer's ever enjoying camping adventures and the simple joys of home, I'm looking forward to the routine and coziness that Autumn brings. One of my favourite things to do in the Fall is to decorate my home, so today I want to share with you some of my favourite decor trends I'm seeing this Autumn with ideas on how you can incorporate them into your own decor. Remember, I'm always a cheerleader for decorating your home in a way that's comfortable for you and your family regardless of trends, but I do enjoy following what's trending in decor for fresh inspiration! Let me show you what I'm loving in the decorating scene this Fall.

    Dark Greens

I've always loved dark greens - especially warm greens - and I'm so excited that they're making a big statement this Fall! I'm seeing all sorts of green tones in designs, from deep teal like I have in my dining room above, to the "Shaded Spruce" colour that's on Pantone's Fall colour report this year. If you want to make a bold statement in your home, try painting an accent wall a dark green. You could also opt for something less dramatic like a green area rug or green patterned drapes.

    Blush Pinks

Light pinks have usually been reserved for Spring decor, but not this year! I'm seeing blush pinks paired with deep greens and blues this year for a really unique look. Try blush pink in a DIY faux fur pillow like I have here, or go a little more whimsical by painting your front door in the hue!

    Brass

    Coburg Mirror from The Brick

Brass is back! What used to be a 90's trend is now popular again this season, and brass accents can add such a warmth and luxurious feeling to any space. I like this trend, but I personally like it in moderation. A couple of brass accessories like a mirror and candlesticks would look lovely, as would brass hardware in a master bathroom.

    Wicker & Woven Textiles

I think wicker accessories and woven accessories (like macrame) add such character to a decorating scheme because they can look (or can be!) handmade. Wicker trays and baskets are a timeless and useful accessory, and a macrame or woven wall hanging would be a fun and simple way to incorporate this trend into a room.

    Velvet

Velvet is one of my ultimate favourite fabrics! I adore how it feels, and I think it looks so rich. I upholstered a pair of vintage chairs in a beautiful cotton velvet fabric, and I also think it would make a great slipcover fabric option for Fall & Winter. Velvet is also a beautiful fabric for smaller accessories like quilts and throw pillows.

    Statement Ceilings

I was happy to see statement ceilings trending after I clad our master bedroom ceiling in reclaimed wood! In addition to barn wood, there are lots of unique materials that you could use to create a statement ceiling like dark or bright paint, wallpaper, or textured ceiling tiles. If you don't want to tackle a large room, a powder room ceiling would be a great makeover option!

Now tell me: Which of these Fall 2017 decor trends do you like best?

Love them all. Am going to try and add more of the woven fabrics and wicker. And love that velvet chair! Thanks for the tips Christina.
