How I'm Beating the Winter Blues with Skillshare

Published: Jan 17, 2018 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 4 Comments

Do you get the "winter blues"? I sure do. That time after Christmas and before Spring can feel extra cold and long; especially if you live up north like I do where it's extra chilly and daylight is fleeting. I usually feel burnt out, too. The Christmas season and the months leading up to it are a very busy time for online creators and it's easy to feel tired and lacking in creative drive after it's all over. If you're a creative person like me - whether you have a blog or not - I think you'll love this community I've found and how it's really helped me overcome my winter blues and my creative slump this year!

How to Learn New Creative Skills with Skillshare

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Skillshare. As always, all of the opinions here are my own.

Skillshare is an online learning community for creators and entrepreneurs and it has more than 18,000 classes in design, business, photography, and more. Anyone can take a class, try a project, or even teach a class themselves! I love that I can curl up on the couch or jump on the treadmill and easily watch a class on my phone with the Skillshare app.

How to Learn New Creative Skills with Skillshare

Not only have I learned a lot about new hobbies I'd like to try (I arranged the flowers above after watching this Skillshare class and I was so pleased!), I've also gained more knowledge about skills I need for my blogging business like public speaking, Instagram marketing and photography. I've been watching a lot of classes lately, but here are some of my favourites so far:

    • How To Make Bountiful Floral Arrangements with Grocery Store Flowers
    • Learn to Paint Watercolor Florals
    • Instagram Essentials: Build Your Brand, Grow Your Community
    • Creative Self Portrait Photography: Going Beyond the Selfie
    • Presentation Essentials: How to Share Ideas That Inspire Action

There are lots of classes on all kinds of crafts that I think you'd enjoy like crochet, painting, knitting, hand lettering and more!

Premium Membership at Skillshare begins at around $8 a month for unlimited access to learning which is a small price to pay for all of the things you can learn. Plus, you can get a special offer for 3 months of Skillshare for only $0.99 by clicking right here.

It's been so refreshing to be able to take a break from teaching & sharing crafty projects and learn lots of exciting new skills instead. There's just something so wonderful about simply being creative with no deadline, isn't there? I find learning new creative hobbies to be such a relaxing and inspiring way to beat my winter blues and start 2018 in a positive light.

How to Learn New Creative Skills with Skillshare

Now tell me: How do YOU beat the winter blues? Do you enjoy learning new creative skills like I do?

If you do decide to join Skillshare, make sure to click here to get 3 months of Skillshare for just $0.99 USD and then find me here. I'd love to see what projects you create there! Happy learning!

Thanks for the info. about Skillshare! Sounds like something I should look into. A question about the beautiful round basket on your coffee table: where did you find it? I’m looking for something just like that now!
