Welcome back to Mom's Lake House! My parents are working hard at finishing their beautiful home, and they've painted and installed their interior doors themselves and did a fabulous job. I thought it would be a good idea to film the process and share it with you here in case you want to try DIY door spray painting and installation yourself! It's a great way to update a home - interior doors take up a lot of real estate in a space and can make a huge impact.
Aren't these doors beautiful? They're the perfect craftsman profile that suits my parents' rustic traditional lake cottage so well. These are the beautiful Masonite Expo™ Heritage® Series Winslow™ Moulded Panel Door from Metrie. We got them in the solid core construction, and they'll be featured in every room in my parents' home.
If you're in the market for some new interior doors, check out this Style Quiz on the Masonite website to determine what your style is and what doors would work the best in your home.
We found that the best way to paint these doors to give them a professional finish was to use a paint spray like the Wagner Flexio 590. This gives such a nice, smooth finish on the doors that looks simply gorgeous!
We removed the doors off of the jamb and set them up in a ventilated area to spray them before installation. You can watch my video at the bottom of this post to see my mom's door paint spraying tips.
If you order pre-hung doors like we did, the installation is a lot easier than you might think! All you need are wood shims, a level and a finishing nail gun to install the doors in your home. Check out my video below to see my dad's tips on how to install an interior door yourself.
