WATER. Do you drink enough? I usually don't. Ever since I was little I couldn't stand the stuff. My roommate in college used to call me a camel because I'd hardly drink any ever. It was a terrible habit that I've learned wreaks havoc on my body. Are you like me and need some encouragement when it comes to drinking enough water? Here are some ideas on how you can make water more exciting to drink, and how to "trick yourself" into drinking more water every day!
Not only can drinking water help us busy mamas physically (it helps prevent icky stuff like constipation and kidney stones), it can help us mentally too (dehydration impairs brain function). That's why it's so important to drink at least 8 cups a day - especially when we're too busy to do much else! (I'm totally preaching to myself here.)
Here are some ideas on how to make your water "prettier" so that it's easier to drink throughout the day. Thanks so much to my Facebook friends and Twitter followers for helping me with these ideas!
Put it in a Pretty Container
It sounds funny, but pouring your water into a nice bottle or cup might encourage you to drink it more. I found my lovely teal hobnail glasses on Zulily a couple years ago and for whatever reason, they make my water and ice look much more appetizing! Here are some other teal hobnail glasses I love.
Keep it Cold
When I was pregnant, I craved icy cold water SO bad! Ever since then, I always think additional ice in my water is always a good idea. You can also buy insulated water bottles like this one to keep your water nice and cool.
Add Some Flavour
Whether it's throwing in some lemon slices or a squirt of water flavouring, adding a bit of flavour to your water might encourage you to drink it more. This Stevia water flavouring looks yummy!
Stick a Straw in It
A few of my Facebook friends told me to try sipping my water through a straw! Do you find that helps you drink it more? I'm going to give this a go tomorrow... I LOVE cute straws (and so do my girls).
Make It A Habit
Drinking a glass of water right when you get up and/or before each meal to help make it a habit is a great idea!
Keep Track
There are lots of great phone apps and paper charts to help you keep track of your water intake. You could also fill a large bottle up with water and tell yourself to drink it by a certain time each day.
How about YOU? Do you drink a lot of water? What are your water-drinking secrets?

I find I drink a lot more water at work than at home - but I definitely try and drink some whenever I am hungry, rather than grabbing a quick snack. If I'm still hungry 5 minutes after drinking a big gulp of water, then I'll have the snack. I find this helps curb the snacking you do when you're bored (rather than actually hungry!).

Two years ago when I was in a weight loss competition, we had to drink 4 litres a day (which seems like a lot but I was craving it towards end of Program). My trick was to start as soon as I woke up and then I drank every half hour. I also drink mine at room temperature because it is easier on body, although I hear if it's cold it burns more calories!

Wow, that's a lot of water!!

Good suggestion, Christina.
One thing my dentist mentioned: lemon-juice is not good for your teeth. So if you always use a straw while drinking lemon-y-water then you avoid the attack on your teeth the most.

True! Water are tasteless. Some of us use to infuse it to fruits so i make more flavors and good taste.
