Little C's Bright, Jewel Toned Bedroom

Published: Nov 12, 2013 · Modified: Dec 25, 2022 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 23 Comments

As soon as I told Little C that we were building a new house and that she was going to get a brand new bedroom, I could see the wheels turning in her little head on how she'd decorate it.

There was no question at ALL that her wall colour was to be purple. She was certain of that. Each time we visited Lowe's, she picked up a few paint chips in various shades of purple to add to her collection. She settled on the most vibrant, most intense shade of electric plumb that I've ever seen and I gave it my mommy blessing. It was crazy, but she loved it so much - why not say yes? She picked all of the fun & whimsical artwork too (scroll down to the bottom of this post to see her pick from Fizz and Bean and for a chance to win your OWN  canvas art!).

I helped her choose accent colours, which ended up being turquoise and hot pink. We both loved a pretty, modern floral fabric we'd found that had all three colours and we based the room off of it.

The final look of the room is very similar to the mood board I put together earlier this year and Little C is over the moon about it - which is what matters the most!

A lot of things in this room were recyled or DIY'd. The fuzzy & roses throw pillows were made by me (you can find the tutorial here), as was the apron. The small pictures, flower lamp and bed are from Ikea (I added a curtain underneath the bed, you can find that tutorial here.)

The canopy was purchased from Lowe's, the scalloped bunting was handmade (you can find that tutorial here) and so was the patchwork duvet (tutorial here).

Her roller shades were covered in fabric & ribbon. They work great! Click here for that simple tutorial.

Finally, this gorgeous canvas art is from the lovely ladies of Fizz & Bean. Little C is absolutely obsessed with ballerinas right now, so she literally squealed when she saw this artwork! The cool thing about Fizz & Bean is that you can have your canvas art customized with the colours of the room you're decorating. This hot pink was the perfect fit for Little C's jewel toned room!

Fizz & Bean's art is 100% original and the designs are printed on cotton canvas and gallery wrapped. I'm so happy with the quality of their art - and the 16 x 16" size looks so nice and substantial in a bedroom!

If you're as excited about their adorable artwork as I am and want to get some for your kids in time for Christmas, make sure you order before November 15th as that's their Christmas ordering deadline. You can visit their website here to look at their selection and place your order - some room art would make a lovely, unique gift!

Baby A's Room Decor - The DIY Mommy

I also got a beautiful piece of canvas art from Fizz & Bean for Baby A's room. Here's a sneak peek of it with some elements I'm incorporating into her room decor. Fizz & Bean customized this canvas to match the coral-pink, soft yellow and turquoise shade's of  Baby A's room perfectly! I'm really hoping to have her room together before Christmas & before Baby Three comes.

It is SO girlie! I think the reason she loves it so much is that she got to choose. I figured that it was only paint, so why not? 😉 Thanks for reading my blog!
