Yesterday was really fun day. I had the absolute pleasure of crafting with a wonderful group of mamas and their babies with Modern Mama at Java Mama in St. Albert. We all made a craft together upstairs, and then toddled down for a time of lattes (for the moms) and playing (for the kids) in this wonderful coffee shop/playplace. What a treat!
I chose to do a fun and simple bird’s nest craft from paper plates with the group. It’s a cute little craft that moms and kids can do together!
The concept was not my own (I found it here at Parents.com), but I changed it up a little.
Instead of shredded paper, I found some $1 hula skirts at the dollar store and cut them up into thirds to make “straw” to glue on the nests.
I also encouraged the children to go on a nature hunt and find twigs or leaves to glue on their nests later.
The birds can pop out of the nest on popsicle sticks, so your child could put on a puppet show or you could make up a story together!
Despite my poor Baby A teething miserably, we had such a great time with our new friends crafting and playing together! Thanks, Modern Mama.
