I am SO excited for bonfires and outdoor BBQs with family and friends this summer. One occasion I love to celebrate with friends outside is Canada Day. A mix of friends, fireworks, and a bonfire in the backyard is the perfect way to celebrate!

S'mores are one of our favourite desserts for outdoor gatherings. We toast marshmallows over a bonfire, and then squish them in between graham crackers and chocolate, or between some of our favourite cookies. This S'mores Caddy contains marshmallows, cookies, and some patriotic Canada Day accessories, so it's a great addition to your BBQ celebration this year. Let me show you how easy & inexpensive it is to put together!

Today's blog post is in collaboration with some of my favourite blogging friends. Before I share my DIY Canada Day s'mores caddy, have a look at their patriotic creations:

This free stitch embroidery project is so fun and easy to make. I used a star shaped cookie cutter to outline the stars. then I painted them and stitched around the outside for more detail.

How to Make a Paper Pinwheel

Here is how to make paper pinwheels out of paper. This step-by-step tutorial shows how to make this simple paper craft project. You can use scrapbooking paper or buy digital paper on Etsy. And finish it off with either a wooden dowel or a tree branch from your garden. The results are so cute.

Now, let's make a Canada Day s'mores caddy (that can be customized for any celebration)!

To begin, find a medium-sized metal caddy. I found this one from Walmart for $15 CDN and ended up buying several to make multiple s'mores caddies for gifts!

    Decorating your s'mores caddy

Now, if you desire, you can create a DIY decal for your caddy with a Cricut. If you don't have a Cricut, you could also stencil something cute onto the front! I used red permanent vinyl to create my 4 x 4" decal and the Love You Canada#M6C87BF4 image in Cricut Design Space.

(Want to learn more about Cricut machines and how they work? Click here.)

Next, make sure your caddy is clean and then apply your decal to the front of the caddy.

Now comes the fun part: filling your caddy with treats that are perfect for S'mores making! In mine, I've added marshmallows, cookies, graham crackers and chocolate. You can finish the caddy by adding a towel and ribbon on the caddy handle in patriotic colours.

That's how easy it is to make this cute Canada Day s'mores caddy! Customize it to your heart's content for any other occasion - I want to make some summer-themed ones for teacher's gifts this year.

    Enjoy!
