Make a Christmas Giving List – A Kid’s Activity #KinderMom

As my girls grow older, I’m finding that I really, really need to make a conscious effort to remind them what Christmas is all about. As soon as December hits (heck, November!) they (and we) are bombarded by Christmas-themed media and it’s usually the message of “getting”. What we are trying to teach our kids is that Christmas is about giving. We’re teaching them about the first Christmas – when God sent his Son Jesus as a baby – and how that was the ultimate gift for us so that we could in turn give to others. This concept is a tricky one to teach when there are constant advertisements and images around us every day encouraging the opposite: to want, want, want. This made me think of some practical ways I could continue to remind my girls (and myself!) that it’s more important to give this season. And not just gifts of things, but gifts of time and service.

I’ve come up with this fun little printable for my kids to remind us all to think about ways we can give this Christmas. I hope you and your kids find it helpful too! Instead of a list for Santa, it’s a checklist of things that you and your kids can come up with as ways to give to others this year. At the bottom of the printable, I’ve included some ideas on ways to give:

Want another fun way to give this year?

For the second year, KINDER® has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network with the “A Joy To Share” program.  The “A Joy to Share” program is one of the ways KINDER® is helping bring  joy to families this holiday season. As families come together this holiday, it is a wonderful opportunity to teach our little ones (and loved ones) about what it means to help others.  This isn’t just a donation – but a call to action for Canadian moms and children to create a greeting card as a means to share some holiday joy to  children and their families at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals this holiday season.

Head on over to the Kinder® Canada Facebook page to create a personalized greeting card with your child. For every card created, Kinder® will automatically donate $1.00 to Children’s Miracle Network on your behalf! What a fun way to give this Christmas season!

Happy giving, friends.
