Make a designer fern wreath for less! (I saved $95)

A faux fern wreath is a classic decor item that you can use for multiple seasons in your home. Pull it out year after year for instant style for your front door! Rather than spending over $100 on a fern wreath, let's make a DIY fern wreath for only $23 with dollar store finds.

DIY fern wreath with dollar store finds

I love this fern wreath, but at over $100 it's out of my budget. When I found some faux fern stems and other greenery stems at Dollarama, I knew I could make a designer inspired wreath for much less.

    You'll need:

    • 7 (or more) faux fern and faux greenery stems from Dollarama
    • a grapevine wreath base
    • hot glue sticks
    • hot glue gun
    • wire cutters

    Let's make the wreath!

First, grab some faux fern & other faux greenery stems from Dollarama (or your local dollar store). I used about 7 bunches for my DIY fern wreath.

Next, cut your stems into sections with wire cutters so there's no more than 2-3 leaves per section. This will make your wreath look more realistic.

Now, here's a secret to making inexpensive faux greenery look more realistic. Gently bend them back-and-forth in an accordian style to give them some movement. This makes a huge difference!

Next, add a dab of hot glue to the base of each stem section, bend it, and push it into a grapevine wreath base. I found my wreath base at Michaels. Overlap the stems as you go, and ensure they're all pointing in the same direction.

As a finishing touch, add some different greenery stems into the wreath to fill any holes. If the stems are a slightly different color and texture, this adds interest to your DIY fern wreath and makes it look more high-end.

Now you're all done! Hang your fern wreath on your front door, mantel, or shelf to add a classy touch to your decor.

Love the snap shots. I just might make something similar but the hanger for the wreath also was a great choice... looks like rattan???
