Happy September, everyone! This is my favourite month of the year. I love that it’s still warm enough to enjoy the great outdoors in comfort, but there’s that exhilarating crisp feeling in the air that calls for hot drinks and tall boots. It’s also my birthday month, so I always feel like September is a great month for resolutions and fresh beginnings. It’s also the month for Fall themed decor. I usually don’t do a lot of Autumn decorating (I save my big decorating switch for Christmas), but this year I’m going to spend a little more time on some simple Fall touches around our home. For starters? These adorable DIY velvet pumpkins are so easy and inexpensive to make.
(And I’m loving how the hydrangeas I cut from our little garden have dried – they’ll be a great addition to my budget-friendly Fall decor!)
These cute pumpkins cost me zero dollars to make (that’s right – zip!) because I had fabric and trim on hand, but even if you don’t have those things they wouldn’t cost much at all. I like the natural look of the cotton velvet (leftover from this project) and dropcloth (left over from this project) I used, but these would be cute in any fabric!
There’s just a little bit of hand-sewing required to make these, so they’re a great beginner’s DIY decor project or a fun craft to do with the kiddos. Here’s the video tutorial, below. Happy September to you!
