Mood Board: A Pink, Shabby Chic Girls Bedroom Design (Little C's Room Refresh for ORC)

Published: Apr 7, 2016 · Modified: Dec 5, 2016 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 17 Comments

When Little C chose the paint colour for her bedroom, she was four years old. Now, at a "mature" 7 years old, she's excited for a change. Today, I want to share with you our plans to turn Little C's bedroom into a pink, shabby chic dream room as we take part in the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home this Spring!

A bright jewel toned kid's room in purple, hot pink and turquoise - The DIY Mommy

Here's what we're starting with - it's a bright, jewel toned room with electric purple walls that I let Little C choose when she was 4. The room is very wild and striking, but my girl admits that she'd now like a colour that's softer and more "relaxing" on her walls.

    One Room Challenge Badge

When I saw that the One Room Challenge was starting up again this month, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for us to refresh her room together! We have 6 weeks to reinvent Little C's room, and we'll post our progress weekly along the way.

Little C also wants a bed closer to the ground. We'll update her bed, paint her walls, rearrange the furniture, and make some new window treatments. Of course we'll DIY as much as we can, and share some fun ideas with you along the way!

We're both pretty excited for the change!

Here's a mood board with our inspiration:

A Pink, Shabby Chic Girls Bedroom Mood Board Design Idea

    1. Jessica Twin Bed from The Brick
    2. Ruffled Drapes from Amazon
    3. Monarch Children's 2 Piece Ottoman Set from The Brick
    4. Gold Heart Decoration from Michaels
    5. Baroque Candle Chandelier from Amazon
    6. Gold Confetti Fabric from Fabric.com
    7. Garden Zoey Birdie Fabric from Fabric.com
    8. Pink Mongolian Faux Fur Fabric from Fabric.com
    9. Monarch Children's Chair in Pink from The Brick
    10. She Leaves a Little Sparkle Poster from Amazon
    11. White Knit Throw with Fringe from The Brick
    12. Jessica Nightstand from The Brick

We really loved the vintage look of the white Jessica bedroom furniture from the Brick - isn't all of that floral detail so gorgeous?! It reminds me of the Victorian era, and Little C thinks it looks like it's fit for a princess. The Jessica furniture is made of pine and painted white, so it should be really durable. The bed and nightstand are also on sale at The Brick this weekend - click here to see the sale price!

The plan is to create a vintage-inspired, shabby chic retreat for Little C that's white, blush pink and gold. She chose these colours and I love them, of course! She loves ruffles, lace, and soft fabrics, so we'll include lots of those feminine details in the room as well.

Stay tuned for our progress, and don't forget to visit the One Room Challenge over at Calling It Home to see what all of the other participants are working on. It's going to be a lot of fun to follow along!

Thank you, Zan! It's tricky to plan kids rooms sometimes. I like to browse Pinterest a little with my girls and have them pick out things they love, and then go from there. 🙂

Jessica's room looks a lot like my "Beauty Room" I'm decorating for myself...and I'm 53! I love your picks, and I can't wait to see the results.

I love that you involve your daughter in your room design. It's important for kids to have ownership in their environments. I'll have to get some ideas about colors from my son, too, since he'll have a new room soon.
