My Favourite Grey Paint Colours & Our Master Bedroom Progress (One Room Challenge Week 3)

Published: Oct 19, 2016 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 14 Comments

Shades of white and grey are still my go-to paint colour choices, and we used both colours for our master bedroom makeover for the One Room Challenge. I know! They sound totally boring. However, I love both of these colours because they allow me to go wild with my textiles and accessories in any room and change things at a whim. They're also both very serene colours that help our home feel calm and airy (even when there are three girls screaming happily at the tops of their lungs). Today, let me share with you our master bedroom makeover progress for the One Room Challenge, plus my favourite shades of white and grey paints and which ones we chose for our bedroom!

Master bedroom makeover progress with Benjamin Moore Classic Gray and SImply White

Just like the last room makeover I did for the ORC, one of the biggest changes we're making to our master bedroom is the paint colour. Paint is relatively inexpensive, not too hard to DIY, and I think it makes a HUGE difference!

I'm by no means a painting pro, but I have done a LOT of painting, and it's definitely something I recommend that you tackle on your own to update any room for not much cost. I laid out some of my favourite DIY room painting tips in this post here.

I'm still over-the-moon happy with our Stikwood ceiling, and you can read about the install right here.

This week, my hubby helped me install the crown molding. Er, HE installed the crown molding because that stuff is HARD to cut!

Now I'm caulking everything and painting all the trim and walls.

This is what the room looks like now:

I still have more painting to go, but I should be done this week! We sold our previous headboard, so we're camping out on the ground like a pair of college kids.

Here are the colours I chose to paint our master bedroom:

    Simply White Classic Gray

Left: Benjamin Moore Simply White Right: Benjamin Moore Classic Grey

I chose Simply White because it's the colour I'm *slowly* working on painting ALL the trim in our home. It's slightly off white, but not too off. I find it to be quite a bright white, but it's still warm.

I chose Classic Grey because I love how light it is. I also like how it's warm and more "greige" (grey + beige) than the greys I normally choose. A warmer, lighter grey like this is an excellent option for a North-facing room like our master bedroom that doesn't receive lots of light.

I think this combo is soothing, simple, and will make a great base for our Modern French Country bedroom scheme. It's also light and bright enough that it showcases the ceiling wonderfully!

Here are more of my favourite white & grey paint colours:

    oc-130

    Benjamin Moore Cloud White
A lovely, creamy off white that isn't too yellow. I'd paint all the trim in our home this colour if it wasn't for our cooler grey walls! I was considering this for the walls of our master bedroom.

    bd96bd974f5d8337ed78743ee36cf0c4

    Benjamin Moore Moonshine
A very similar colour to the grey we have in the rest of our home (Valspar Seashell Grey). This grey is cool and light with greenish undertones in some lights.

    grey-owl

    Benjamin Moore Grey Owl
This is a really true grey in a nice light shade. I've seen this mixed with half white, and it's lovely and fresh.

    revere-pewter

    Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter
I love this colour for a nice, medium "griege". When my hubby has a client that doesn't know what colour to paint their walls for selling their home, this is the colour I like to recommend!

What are YOUR favourite wall colours?

Stay tuned for next week's bedroom makeover progress, and don't forget to check out my fellow ORC participants' progress here.
