    Our DIY Back Patio Update

Published: Jun 22, 2017 · Modified: Jun 21, 2017 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 2 Comments

Summer is HERE, folks! I am thrilled, and so are my kids. They can't wait for more beach days, more camping and no school. One thing we know for sure is that we're going to be spending a lot of time relaxing on our new back patio. It's a great location - it's just outside of our walk-out basement, and it faces our backyard with the tree house and swing. The patio is going to be a fabulous place for summer dinner parties, and for mama to kick up her feet and relax (fingers crossed!) while the kids play. A few weeks ago, I showed you the before photos of our patio area along with a modern French country mood board. Here's a peek at how our DIY patio is coming along!

We are finished the main part of our pea gravel + upcycled pavers patio floor. The process only took a few days, and I'll share a more detailed DIY tutorial on how we did it when I reveal the final look. It only cost us a couple hundred dollars, and I love the rustic look!

When we received The Creston Patio Set from The Brick, I set it up immediately! That night, we dined on steak and corn on the cob outside, even though our patio wasn't entirely finished.

This set comes with a dining height table, two loveseats, a pillow storage box and a couple of ottomans, so it fits our family of 5 comfortably for dinner. It's also comfy to lounge on, which makes it the perfect patio set if you're tight on space and want to be able to relax or dine with the same setup.

I love the colour of the faux wicker on this set, too. It has that weathered wood look that makes me think of the beach or the French countryside.

Our peonies in the garden just started to bloom, so I had to sneak one in the mix because I love them so much! Isn't it pretty with the garden lilacs?

This pop of colour makes me feel like I may need to add some more colour to our patio before it's complete. How would YOU do it? Would you paint the back doors a soft aqua colour? Or would you stick to colourful accessories?

Come back in a couple of weeks, and I'll share the final patio look with you. I'll also share more details on our DIY gravel + pavers floor, plus the retaining wall we built. Happy Summer!

LOVE the patio stone and pea gravel mix - what a great idea! And the patio set sounds like a perfect mix of form and function, can't wait to see more!
