Our Neutral Valentine's Day Mantel Decor

Published: Jan 21, 2015 · Modified: Feb 22, 2015 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 28 Comments

Like I mentioned before, I never thought I'd take the time to decorate a mantel for Valentine's Day, but here we are. Honestly? I think it's pretty and Little C was just ecstatic when she saw we were putting lots of hearts up on our mantel to celebrate her favourite holiday!

DIY Neutral Valentine's Day Mantel Decor

I decided to decorate in mostly neutral colours, and everything I used was what I already had on hand, or what I could make for free. Just the way I like it!

This DIY heart book page wreath takes center stage, and you can read how I made it (with a video!) here.

I covered the insert of a picture frame I had with drop cloth, and then I stenciled the word "love" on the bottom of it. I printed out the word (the font is "Bombshell"), and then I coloured the back of the paper with a pencil. Then I placed the paper onto my dropcloth frame and traced around the letters so that the pencil on the back transferred to the drop cloth.

Then, I traced around the letters and filled them in with a black Sharpie. I extended the lines of the first and last letter to the edge of the frame.

I am in love with the book page wreath. I have made a gold dipped burlap wreath for Valentine's Day (last year) and it is heart shaped, too! I am a wreath addict and just love yours!

Thanks, Laura! I designed it, and my parents and my hubby built it. Here's a post about it: http://thediymommy.com/building-our-fireplace-the-diy-mantel-our-diy-house/
