Our Neutral Valentine’s Day Mantel Decor

January 21, 2015 By Christina Dennis 21 Comments

Like I mentioned before, I never thought I’d take the time to decorate a mantel for Valentine’s Day, but here we are. Honestly? I think it’s pretty and Little C was just ecstatic when she saw we were putting lots of hearts up on our mantel to celebrate her favourite holiday!

DIY Neutral Valentine's Day Mantel Decor

I decided to decorate in mostly neutral colours, and everything I used was what I already had on hand, or what I could make for free. Just the way I like it!

This DIY heart book page wreath takes center stage, and you can read how I made it (with a video!) here.

I covered the insert of a picture frame I had with drop cloth, and then I stenciled the word “love” on the bottom of it. I printed out the word (the font is “Bombshell”), and then I coloured the back of the paper with a pencil. Then I placed the paper onto my dropcloth frame and traced around the letters so that the pencil on the back transferred to the drop cloth.

Then, I traced around the letters and filled them in with a black Sharpie. I extended the lines of the first and last letter to the edge of the frame.

I am in love with the book page wreath. I have made a gold dipped burlap wreath for Valentine’s Day (last year) and it is heart shaped, too! I am a wreath addict and just love yours!

I'm trying to embrace the session, seize the day and all that lovely stuff... but meanwhile I'm sprinkling Springy decor and making Springy DIYs with all the hope I can muster. 🤣 I don't know if it's the weather or another flu coming on, but every muscle in my body is just aching and it's sure not helping me enjoy the cold! (This DIY dollar store floral arrangement looks great on all my tables - I keep moving it around! 🙌 You can get the tutorial to make it on my #YouTube channel or here in #IGTV.)
