Overwhelmed (One Room Challenge Week 2 Update)

This past week has been exhausting, I admit. I’m physically, mentally and emotionally drained. Nevertheless, I thought I’d share with you how we’re progressing with Little A’s bedroom makeover for the One Room Challenge this week!

I just want a nap.

In case you’ve never heard of it, the One Room Challenge is a challenge hosted by Calling It Home where several interior designers and dozens of guest participants (usually home decor bloggers like myself) makeover one room in their home over the course of 6 weeks. I’ve done 4 previous ORCs before, so this one will be my 5th!

Check out all of the previous makeover’s I’ve done for this challenge right here.

This season, I’m making over my middle daughter’s bedroom into a Rich and Magical Girl’s Bedroom. You can see my mood board & design plans right here.

Between my brother’s wedding this past weekend, Thanksgiving here in Canada, and what seems like a million work and family projects on the go, this week was tough and honestly? I’m feeling mighty overwhelmed.

I did get some painting and shopping done for this room makeover, and you can see everything I’ve accomplished so far in the video below:

I’m using Cloverdale’s Atlantic Waves 0473 for the deep teal feature wall, I’ll be painting the rest of the room Sweet Ariel 0467, and I already have some Dreaming of the Day 0470 on hand to paint a DIY headboard from a vintage screen. These are all shades of teal and aqua from the same paint chip! I’m almost done painting all the trim in this room Whisper White by Behr.

The fabric I purchased for a DIY duvet is Unicornicopia from Spoonflower.

Now tell me: What do you think so far? And how do you deal when you’re feeling overwhelmed?

One Room Challenge Guest Participant

This makeover is part of the Fall 2018 One Room Challenge – a 6 week long challenge where I’m making over one room in my home along with dozens of other designers and guest participants.

  1. This looks amazing and you are doing a great job! I don’t get a lot of sleep during the ORC, but when I feel stressed I give myself permission to take a break. A real break…no social, no computer, no kids :). Good luck and hang in there.

  2. Hi Christina!
You did a great job painting that rich dark color! I too am feeling overwhelmed. Since I live close to the beach I usually just pop over there for about 15-20 minutes and that changes my whole perspective. If you don’t have a beach nearby I simply suggest wine ( and lots of it ). 🙂 Don’t worry you’ve got this!

  3. Christina! I meant to comment last week when you shared your moodboard because I was SO excited to see how it turns out (the palette is super similar to the nursery I did at our house, but I figured the rooms would turn out differently). Loving how the wall is looking so far, I’m always a fan of big colour 🙂
