  • miter saw or hand saw

To begin, stain and/or paint your birdhouses if you’d like. I stained mine with Minwax Classic Grey, and then dry brushed them with some green/grey latex paint I had on hand.

Cut the tree branch pieces to 3 different heights. I used a miter saw, but you could also use a hand saw. Mine are about 40″, 37″ and 34″ tall. Attach them to a scrap piece of 2×6 lumber with a drill and deck screws. I staggered mine and screwed them in place from the bottom of the 2×6.

Dig a shallow hole in your garden the size of your 2×6, place the piece in the hole, and cover it up with a thin layer of dirt or mulch.

Attach the birdhouses to the tops of the branches with glue. I used white glue, but Crazy Glue would also work well.
