I decided to keep our breakfast nook and kitchen Christmas decor incredibly simple this year. There's lots of white and green, and many simple handmade touches like this easy gingerbread village centerpiece.

This is a fun centerpiece to get the kids involved in making, too! I simply bought a gingerbread village kit at my grocery store (this one's from Superstore, but I've also seen similar ones at Walmart), put all the little houses together and decorated them with the white royal icing that was included. The girls added candies and sprinkles to their houses, but I decided to keep mine simple with only the white accents.

Next, I found a dish with a rim and placed the houses inside. Bottle brush trees and candlesticks were placed around the houses, and I topped it all off with a sprinkling of sugar to look like freshly fallen snow.

You can also add fresh or faux greenery branches beneath the tray to give this easy centerpiece more interest.
