Meal Planning Monday: Week 8 – Simple, Real Family Dinners

Miracle of all miracles – Meal Planning Monday is back this week! We’re slowly settling into our new home, and things have been a little lackadaisical on the supper front (i.e. we had popcorn and ham slices for supper last night). I’m ready to get back into the swing of things now that I’m warming up to my new kitchen and the longer car-to-front-door grocery bag run. (I’ll share some more peeks of Our DIY House later this week with you… there’s still so much to do!)Continue reading

Meal Planning Monday: Week 6 – Simple, Real Family Dinners

It’s already week 6 of Meal Planning Monday! I’ve really been enjoying planning out my meals lately. It’s been helping me deal with stress better and save some money. Both have been highly needed lately! I think I’ll continue Meal Planning Monday until I reach week 8, and then I’ll have a great library of weekly plans to draw from for the summer. How about you? Have you found these meal plans helpful at all?Continue reading

Meal Planning Monday: Week 5 – Simple, Real Family Dinners

Our fridge and pantry are seriously Mother Hubbard right now, so I’ve made my meal plan for the week and we’re setting out on an epic grocery shop today! (You know you’re a mom when you can call grocery shopping “epic”.)

I’m planning on a little bit of crock potting this week, along with a team of one-dishers. Things need to be relatively easy (and maybe I’ll make extras for freezing?) as we head into the home stretch of Our DIY House this month! There is a lot of trim and door painting in my near future.Continue reading

Meal Planning Monday: Week 4 – Simple, Real Family Dinners

Have you been meal planning with me? How is it going for you?

My body is absolutely craving fresh veggies, fruits and good ol’ fashioned home-cooked meals this week after our nightmare week in the hospital.

(We came home from the hospital last Thursday night. Little C is doing amazingly well. I’m so thankful for all of your prayers and support – thank you! It amazes me how many adults and young children struggle with asthma.)Continue reading

Meal Planning Monday: Week 2 – Simple, Real Family Dinners

Did you meal plan with me last week? How did it go for you?

I ended up cooking 4 of the 6 dinners I planned last week. Why only 4? On Tuesday, we heard the pitter patter of little mouse feet behind my sewing cabinet and I heard squeaks behind the stove. We set out traps and I was NOT in a million years going to cook dinner at home that night. We went out to eat. I’m happy to say the mice were caught and we are squeak free.

This weekend, my parents and siblings helped us work on Our DIY House and watch the girls. We had a simple BBQ one night, and I made a delicious pork tenderloin recipe the other night. I’ll include a link to that recipe in this week’s list so that you can try it too.Continue reading

Meal Planning Monday: Week One – Simple, Real Family Dinners

I’m trying to be a healthier mommy. I’m taking baby steps, and the baby step I took this past month was to focus on healthy eating.

I’m not a raw foods and tofu kind of girl, so my goal is simply to eat “real foods” (i.e. non-processed foods) as much as possible.

I’ve been a meal planner off and on for a long time, but I find that it really helps me and my family to eat well, spend less money on groceries, and have a more relaxed dinner time. I’ve decided to share my meal plans with you with the hope that it won’t only keep me motivated, but that it will be useful to some of you. There are so many good supper recipes I’ve loved and tried and I want to share them!
