How to Paint a Dresser with DIY Chalk Style Paint (Video) | One Room Challenge Week 4

It’s week 4 of the One Room Challenge and not much has been done this week, to be honest! It’s been snowing here, and I’ve been having a hard time finding motivation to do much of anything (and it’s too wet and cold to put the power tools on the porch to cut trim). I’m thankful to live where and how we do, BUT I have to say that this SNOW at the end of April is really getting me down. Still, I thought I’d share with you what my dining room makeover is looking like this week plus show you how I made over my 15 year old dresser into a fresh, new-looking piece!Continue reading

My Favourite Grey Paint Colours & Our Master Bedroom Progress (One Room Challenge Week 3)

Shades of white and grey are still my go-to paint colour choices, and we used both colours for our master bedroom makeover for the One Room Challenge. I know! They sound totally boring. However, I love both of these colours because they allow me to go wild with my textiles and accessories in any room and change things at a whim. They’re also both very serene colours that help our home feel calm and airy (even when there are three girls screaming happily at the tops of their lungs). Today, let me share with you our master bedroom makeover progress for the One Room Challenge, plus my favourite shades of white and grey paints and which ones we chose for our bedroom!Continue reading

How to Paint a Piece of Furniture in 3 Hours (+ Shopping The Brick’s Tent Sale for Home Decor Deals)

I wish you all lived near me so that we could grab a latte, head to the city and do some furniture bargain hunting together! It’s one of my most favourite things to do. I love hitting up antique shops, thrift stores, and garage sales to see what sorts of treasures I can find for a great price. One great place to find furniture bargains right now? The Brick Tent Sale! It’s happening right now at Brick stores across Canada, and it’s such a great place to find furniture, mattresses, electronics and appliances that have been deeply discounted. I hit up the Tent Sale at my local South Edmonton Brick store last week and found a gorgeous piece – the most beautiful, curvy little chest that was begging for a DIY paint job! Let me show you what I did to it, and how I gave it a fun makeover in less than 3 hours.Continue reading
