Today I’ve been nominated by the lovely Emily of Our House, Now A Home to take part in the Tour Through Blogland where bloggers have been connecting with eachother and sharing a bit about their lives and their homes. Emily is a DIY and interior decorating blogger who loves transforming a space keeping in mind her family and their needs. She loves to turn old pieces into something new (just like I do!), and refresh them to their old glory.

Look at this awesome industrial console table she made:

Isn’t it pretty? Thanks so much for nominating me, Emily! I love your home and your projects.

Now, here’s a bit about me and what I’ve been up to lately.

Christina Dennis, The DIY Mommy

My name is Christina and I’m a mom of three girls ages 5, 2 and 6 months. My husband is a general contractor, and we live in a house we’ve recently built on the prairie west of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I’ve just recently done a tour of our home, and you can find that here. I love sewing, crafts, graphic & interior design, social media, and baking. I’m horrible at organizing, driving in the big city and any type of sport.

What am I working on?

Currently, I’m prettying up my home for Fall. I really should be giving it a deep clean with a vacuum and mop instead of putting out faux fall leaves and pumpkins. Sigh. The deep clean is next on my list! I’m also planning to attend my first blog conference this coming Saturday. I’m flying all the way to Toronto! It will be the first time I’ve been away from my girls in… 5 years!

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

There are a TON of inspiring and talented DIY bloggers on the internets, and I can only hope to be as cool as they are! I think something that makes me stand out is my love of thrifty projects on a tight budget. My projects are usually also very kid-friendly (which I have no control over  – they pretty much HAVE to be!).

Why do I write/create what I do?

I’ve always been a determined, project-oriented kind of girl. I love creating things and designing things, and this blog is a natural extension of what I love to do.

How does my writing/creating process work?

While I try to be organized and scheduled, I find that most of my favourite projects have been very spontaneous. I usually get ideas for new projects when I find something that we lack and that I can DIY instead of buy. I do my projects in bits and pieces throughout the day as I mommy my three girls, and I take photos with my tablet or DSLR camera while I work. I usually write my posts late at night, and then schedule them to publish on weekday mornings.

I’ve nominated two bloggers that I thoroughly admire to share a little bit about themselves next Monday:

Closet Foyer Makeover

Jen from Fresh Crush is a talented DIY & home decor blogger who’s renovating her home. She’s done some great work so far, and I can’t wait to see what she has under her sleeve next!

Entry Chest of Drawers
Bethany from This Little Estate is a beautiful and encouraging home decor and lifestyle blogger that I first found on Instagram and I’ve grown to love her.

Please make sure to visit these ladies’ blogs next Monday to read about them and their creative process! Have a wonderful week, friends.
