Last year, my brother and sister-in-law bought their first home. My family has been helping them renovate it from it’s original 1970s look into something more modern and personalized.

We just finished renovating their kitchen, and I’ll be sharing that on my YouTube channel this Saturday! Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss that video. In preparation for that, I wanted to share how we transformed a bedroom in their home into a sweet little nursery for their new baby girl.

Here’s how their nursery looked before. It’s about a 10′ by 11′ space with old window coverings, a wallpaper feature wall, and a closet.

This DIY picture frame trim wall is my favorite feature in the room. Painting the wall a bright mint green adds color to this space, and the picture frame trim is a traditional style touch that I think makes the room feel timeless.

Making this closet more organized and more suited for baby clothing and accessories was a goal of mine. The shelving and rods make better use of this space and add a lot more functionality to this nursery. Keeping the original mahogany trim was important to my brother and sister-in-law, and I love how its color contrasts with the whites and greens in this room.

We took some art that my sister-in-law had from when she was a baby, and re-framed it for a modern update.

This DIY bow holder is made from a wooden plaque I found at Michaels, clothespins, and ribbon. It’s such a simple craft that’s so functional for a little girl’s nursery.

We wanted to keep the more permanent elements of the room – the walls & flooring – neutral. However, accessories like pillows in pink and florals adds a feminine touch for the new baby girl.

I love the mix of old and new in this space! This vintage dresser adds warmth and character.

Some DIY art, a faux birch tree, a cozy rug and a feminine chandelier are the finishing touches to this sweet little nursery.
