    Modern Coastal Home Decor Style

Modern coastal inspired bathroom renovation with marble tile, shiplap, gold and black accessories, clear shower door, blue and white colors & rattan accents

If your home decor style is Modern Coastal...

Your style is all about the relaxed feel of the ocean! You love natural textiles, sea-inspired accessories and comfortable furniture. As a lover of modern coastal home decor style, you prefer cool colours like blues and greens, and you love incorporating rustic elements in your home...

You don't have to live by the coast to embrace coastal decor. This soothing combo of natural textiles and soft colours can work in any location!

When redecorating, try keeping your wall colour a shade of white and adding interest elsewhere in the room with pops of blues, greens, and textured wooden or rattan pieces. There's no need to go overboard on obviously nautical accessories to keep this look more subtle.

Need tips to help you overcome your fear of starting your room makeover? Read on…

If starting a room redesign feels like a whirlpool of stress and self-doubt, you’re not alone, friend. Completely transforming your space is a big time commitment and it can be a big investment, too.

    You might be worrying…

… What if I spend all this time and money then get tired of my new room two months later?

… What if it clashes with the current rooms in my home?

… Or what if guests don't feel comfortable?

On top of that, you’ve got a sea of options to choose from. No wonder redecorating feels a little overwhelming.

But luckily there are steps you can take to make it a whole lot easier. The first being...

    1. Set the Mood

Begin narrowing down selections for your room makeover by deciding on a mood for the space you're decorating. Ask yourself how you want to feel when you walk in. Maybe you’re after a cozy, comfy living room. Or a calming, relaxing bedroom...

Collect interior design inspiration that aligns with whatever vibe you're after. I LOVE using Pinterest to create an inspiration board for my room designs. You’ll still have an array of options, but you’ll be able to source paint colors, furniture, and accessories with more confidence knowing they suit your aesthetic.

    2. Start With a Statement

If you’re decorating a room from scratch, an easy step is to pick a focal point piece of furniture for each room. For a kitchen, maybe you want an eye-catching marble island...

Whatever it is, make sure you genuinely love it. Your focal point should put a smile on your face because odds are you're going to be looking at it a lot. Pick the rest of your décor to compliment that one statement piece. This will help you overcome any room makeover indecision you may be facing. I'm a firm believer in "do what you love" (and make it coordinate)!

    3. Experiment with Color and Texture

Color and texture can transform how you feel. It’s science! Each shade has a unique psychological affect. For example, yellow is energizing and works best in kitchens and bathrooms. And blue is calming, which makes it a great pick for bedrooms.

If you want to be bold, try pairing two colors across from one another on the color wheel, like green and purple or orange and blue.

Texture can also add a lot to a room. If you’re going for a warm, inviting vibe, pick soft fabrics like velvet or suede. If you want something more glamorous try upholstery with a metallic sheen.

"Who’s this decorating guru giving me all the tips?" Glad you asked...
