Even though it’s still really cold here and we just got a HUGE dump of snow, I’m pretending Spring has sprung at our home! I love using florals and light & bright colours in our decor to usher in Spring and instantly lift my mood. Today I want to give you a tour of our front door and living room decorated for Spring 2018. This tour is part of the Canadian Bloggers Home Tour hop that’s happening this week, and it’s hosted by Shannon of Home Made Lovely and myself. Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post after you’ve taken my front door and living room tour to see all of the other inspiring Spring decorating ideas that my blogging friends are sharing this week!

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Brick. As always, all of the opinions here are my own.

Let’s start at the front door of our house: a front door can really set the scene for the feel of a home! I’ve kept it simple until the snow clears, but I’ve added some colourful elements for Spring.

Since it’s much too cold to have flowers outside yet, faux plants are a great option for early Spring front door decor. I found these beautiful faux boxwood plants in store at The Brick, and I love their French Country vibe! You might be surprised at how many lovely faux plants The Brick carries in their stores, and I always find different ones whenever I visit.

A DIY boxwood & tulip wreath and a handmade welcome mat add the finishing touches to our Spring front entry. I’m also leaving my colourful rubber boots here – they’ll be ready when it’s time to dig in the garden soon!

Now it’s time to head on inside to the living room!

Because we have quite a few darker elements in our living room – the top of our feature wall, our fireplace stone, our accent chair, and our coffee table – one trick that I always use in this space to decorate it for Spring & Summer is to add lots of white & pastel coloured elements.

Adding those through throw pillows on the couch is the easiest way to start! A few pretty accent pillows topped off with a couple of Mongolian Sheepskin Accent Pillows from The Brick in white instantly make the living room feel light and bright. These fluffy pillows are my favourites to use for any season because they add texture to a room. The white is perfect for Spring!

I still get a lot of questions about our Paris Sectional in Stone from The Brick. We’ve had it for a year and a half now, and YES it’s holding up well to our three kids and my poor housekeeping skills! When we accidentally spill something on it (or a certain 3-year-old attacks it with a marker), I use clear dish soap, water & a cloth to wipe the fabric and the spills come right out. I’m really glad we chose this medium grey colour for our main living space because it’s dark enough to hide dirt but light enough to still make our space feel open. I love this piece so much that I even ordered a Paris loveseat in a fun colour for my new studio space!

I also still adore our gallery wall behind the sectional in our living room. It’s been here for a few years now, and it’s fun to update it every now and then with new photos and art! Another way to update your living room for Spring is by swapping out art for seasonal favourites. Here, I’ve hung up my DIY thrifted doily wall hanging and some Spring art that I designed and that you can download right here.

I also think a great way to update a living room for Spring is by creating a new arrangement on the coffee table. It’s a great conversation piece, too! You might remember our Cranfill Coffee Table from The Brick from my romantic dinner for two idea this Valentine’s Day. I’ve lowered it back down (I LOVE its moveable top!) and decorated it for Spring. It’s such a great, rustic counterpart to our light and airy living room.

To make a coffee table arrangement look instantly cohesive, use a tray like this wicker one I had in my stash to corral all of your items together. Then, load it up with seasonal items that you love like greenery (I’m using faux here), books and flowers. I found this beautiful French Country inspired cake stand from The Brick in-store, and I think it looks so lovely as a candle stand.

I’ve been really enjoying the combination of tulips and ferns for this Spring’s decor, and you can see them scattered throughout the room like on the mantel…

This piece was originally black in colour and I updated it for Spring by giving it a couple of coats of chalk style paint. I thought it would be fun to turn it into a piece of art for the season, so I tied some faux tulips, lavender and ferns to it with floral wire. My 9 year old helped me pick where to tie each piece, and I think she did a great job!

I’ve added more wicker and floral accents for Spring in our entry area. I’ve used all faux florals for this room so far to save a little money and because I had so many lovely ones on hand.

Our living room is all freshened up for Spring, and now we just have to wait until the seasonal actually arrives!
