How to Sew a Faux Fur Pillow Cover + My Tips for Sewing with Faux Fur (Video)

Published: Jan 23, 2017 by Christina Dennis · This post may contain affiliate links · This blog generates income via ads · 8 Comments

I've loved furry pillows and throws for as long as I can remember, and I especially love using them to decorate my home when it's cold outside. They're so comfy and soft, and my kids love cuddling with furry pillows and blankets too! I've made quite a few faux fur pillow covers over the years, so today I wanted to share with you a video about how to sew a faux fur pillow cover. I'm also sharing with you my general tips for sewing with faux fur fabric so that your finished project looks professional.

One of the biggest tips I can offer you when you're working with faux fur fabric, is to make sure to cut only the backing of the fabric. I slip the tips of my sewing shears carefully into my fabric when I cut it, making sure to slide through the "fur" and only cut the polyester fabric backing. You can see how I do this in the video below.

Another tip is to make sure to tuck all of the fur of the fabric inside your sandwiched fabric pieces when you're sewing a pillow back and front together. This prevents the fur from being tangled into the seams.
