Build a DIY Outdoor Sofa (Video)

Have you ever been little hesitant about making something, but then after you decided to give it a shot and see what happens, you were happily surprised with the results? That's how I felt about this DIY outdoor sofa! I haven't ever built outdoor furniture, but when I stumbled across these easy outdoor couch building plans from Ana White, I knew they'd be simple enough for me to try. Let me show you how to build a beautiful, rustic outdoor sofa out of 2x4s!

To begin this project, download this free PDF materials list, cut list and instructions by Ana White.

Next, pick up your lumber. I used cedar 2x4s so that this sofa would weather well outside. You'll also need deck screws, a drill, a cross-cut saw, stain (if desired), and brackets (if desired - I used these instead of pocket screws as called for in the plans).

Next, follow the directions in the downloaded PDF to build your sofa. You can also watch Ana's helpful video, below:

Finish off your DIY outdoor sofa with some outdoor back & seat cushions (I found mine at Ikea online, or you could sew some) and some decorative throw pillows.

Ain't she a beaut?! I'm so proud of this simple little sofa and I love its rustic / industrial look! I'm planning to use it for a deck project for Brookfield Residential, and I can't wait to show you the finished space soon.
