Are you ready to find the best paint colours for your walls but feeling overwhelmed by the endless options? Don’t worry; I’ve got you covered! As a passionate DIYer and home decorator, I’ve tried my fair share of paint colors in my interiors over the years. Today, I’m excited to share with you my top picks for the best paint colors for walls that I’ll use again and again. Whether you’re aiming for a cozy atmosphere, a bold statement, or a serene retreat, these colors are sure to inspire your next painting project.

After painting dozens and dozens of rooms, I’ve come to love a certain selection of paint colours. I’ve used these best paint colours for my walls in a few different projects, and they never disappoint! Because I have a Home Depot nearby and like the price, most of these paints are Behr paints. However, I’ve included a couple other brands that I simply couldn’t leave out! I hope you enjoy my list of most popular paint colors that I love, and let me know if you’re going to try any in your own home.

Behr Whisper White

Let’s start with a timeless classic, and my favourite white paint colour ever. Behr Whisper White is a soft white hue that effortlessly brightens up any space. Its subtle warmth adds a touch of coziness without overwhelming the room. Whether used in a living room, bedroom, or kitchen, Whisper White walls serve as the perfect backdrop for both modern and traditional decor styles.

I used Whisper White in our RV 2.0 renovation, and it’s the colour of all the trim in our home. It has the versatility of a true white, but it’s ever-so-slightly warmer with more depth.

Behr Observatory

If you’re craving a bolder palette, Behr Observatory is the way to go. This deep, moody blue creates a sense of drama and sophistication, making it ideal for accent walls or cozy reading nooks. It has green undertones and lots of warmth, so it’s something more fun than navy. Pair it with crisp white trim and natural wood accents for a truly striking effect.

We used Observatory on the bedroom and office accent walls in our Little Lake House, and it’s perfect for the modern coastal vibe of the home.

Behr Swiss Coffee

Looking for a versatile neutral that’s anything but boring? Behr Swiss Coffee is your answer and it’s one of the best paint colours for walls. This warm, creamy shade of off-white exudes understated elegance and pairs beautifully with a variety of color palettes and design schemes. Whether used in a large living area or a small bathroom, Swiss Coffee adds a touch of timeless sophistication to any space.

We used this on my sister-in-law’s kitchen, as well as my mom’s lake house for a classic look that will stand the test of time. It’s a beautiful, warm neutral that’s perfect for a living room paint color to a kitchen paint color.

Behr Dark Evergreen

Another stunning option from Behr, Dark Evergreen brings the beauty of the outdoors inside. This rich, forest green hue infuses rooms with a sense of tranquility and depth. Use it to create a cozy retreat in a bedroom or a bold statement in a dining room. Paired with natural textures and pops of brass or gold, Dark Evergreen creates a timeless, elegant mood.

This was a great choice for the feature wall in our RV bedroom to give it a little drama. Depending on your lighting conditions, this can read almost black!

Benjamin Moore Classic Grey

As the name suggests, Benjamin Moore’s Classic Gray is a true classic. This versatile shade of warm grey-beige (greige) effortlessly complements a wide range of decor styles, from modern farmhouse to minimalist chic. Its soft undertones create a calming atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas alike. It’s one of the best paint colours for walls for a reason!

I used Classic Grey in our primary bedroom, and it’s perfect for a north-facing room. It’s a light and neutral paint color, but the warmer greige tone is great for a space that gets cooler light.

Behr Silky White

For those who prefer a light & warm gray paint color that reads beigey white, Behr Silky White is a perfect option. This crisp, clean shade brightens up rooms while maintaining a sense of freshness and simplicity. Use it to create a cohesive backdrop throughout your home or as a striking contrast against bold accent colors.

Silky White is what we used on the walls of our lake house rental, and it looks great next to Behr Ultra Pure White which is what we used on the walls, ceiling, and trim. (P.S. Ultra Pure White is a very true, bright white! The popular shade of white from BM – Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace – is very similar.)

Behr Shades On

If you’re looking for an elegant dark grey hue that’s anything but boring, Behr Shades On is the perfect choice. This dramatic shade of grey-black creates a rich atmosphere that’s perfect for bedrooms, bathrooms, and reading nooks. Pair it with natural materials and soft textures for a cozy, inviting feel.

We used this for the tops of the walls in our living room, and I love the drama! It’s not as contrasting as pure black, but it still looks striking against white trim. I used Behr’s Marquee paint when I painted our living room in Shades On, and because it had such great coverage I only had to use one coat!

Behr Blank Canvas

Embrace the beauty of simplicity with Behr Blank Canvas. This soft, barely-there shade of cream provides the perfect blank slate for your design vision. Whether you’re aiming for a serene oasis in the bedroom or a cozy gathering space in the living room, Blank Canvas sets the stage for endless possibilities.

Blank Canvas was used as the interior paint color in our Tiny Lake House, and I love how it looks with a pop of color like the mint green of our kitchen appliances. It was Behr’s 2023 Color of the Year for a reason: it’s so lovely!

Behr Dark Denim

Infuse your space with a sense of sophistication with Behr Dark Denim. This rich, navy blue hue adds depth and drama to any room, whether used as an accent wall paint or an all-over color. Pair it with crisp white trim and pops of metallic accents for a modern twist on classic elegance. You could also pair it with warm wood and oranges for a fun twist!

I used Dark Denim on an accent wall in my friend’s son’s bedroom, and we’re also planning to use it in a bathroom redesign for my daughter’s! It’s a beautiful navy.

Small Laundry Room Organization & Decor Ideas

Valspar Distant Valley

Last but certainly not least, Valspar Distant Valley is a beautiful blend of blue, green, and grey that adds depth and dimension to any space. This versatile hue works well in both traditional and contemporary settings, making it a go-to choice for homeowners and interior designers alike. Use it to create a serene retreat in the bedroom or a calming backdrop in the laundry room or bathroom.

We used this in our laundry room, dining room and bathroom 11 years ago and I still love it to this day! It’s my favourite soft blue-green wall color, and I think it makes any space feel so calming and relaxing.
