It’s time for another Tiny Lake House kitchen renovation update for the One Room Challenge! Today I’m sharing all about the IKEA cabinets that we chose for the space, plus an update on the whole kitchen project.

For this season of the ORC (a collaborative online event where folks share a room makeover done in 8 weeks), I’m sharing the weekly progress of our Tiny Lake House Kitchen. In case you missed it, we’re renovating a 476 square foot cabin by a lake and turning it into our second Airbnb + a place for our family to enjoy. We’ve completely gutted the cabin to re-insulate it and alter the floor plan. You can see that here.

I jumped in a couple weeks late for the Fall 2022 One Room Challenge, and here’s what I’ve shared of our kitchen makeover so far:

Here’s what our Tiny Lake House kitchen looks like on Week 7:

We’re finally making progress, right?! The shiplap ceiling is in, and so is the LVP flooring. I’ve also build our IKEA kitchen cabinets, and we’re starting to place the appliances!

Unfortunately, we’re a week behind for the One Room Challenge. As all the participants are sharing their completed room makeovers for week 8, we’re still on our own week seven and limping along. My girls and I got very sick over the past few weeks, so I didn’t make as much progress as I’d like. Oh well – we hope to power through and finish this whole space next week to share with you!

I can already tell this wee kitchen is going to be ultra adorable! I was super lucky, and found a new line of cabinet fronts that IKEA just launched – the ENKOPING – and was able to snag enough cabinetry for this tiny kitchen. IKEA kitchen cabinets have been very hard to source lately, so I was happy to find these ones in stock. They’re a white shaker style cabinet with a wood grain effect, and I think they’ll be perfect for this space.

We are installing all tiny appliances, and this 18″ wide dishwasher from Home Depot is one of them. After hosting our other vacation rental for over a year now, we know that having a tiny dishwasher will be better then none for both our guests and our cleaner.

We also unboxed the Classic Retro 24″ range hood that goes along with our Unique Appliances suite of retro-look appliances they’ve gifted us! The summer mint green colour is PERFECTION, and I LOVE the vintage look. I can’t wait to open up the other appliances and install them in here!
